What is a QNED TV?

Pioneered by LG, QNED is yet another confusing TV acronym to add to the mix of OLED and QLED. 

Officially, it’s a mashup of the word `quantum`, LG`s `NanoCell` LCD branding, and the `emitting diodes` used in the backlight - which are the hallmark of this technology.

So that’s the name figured out, but what does QNED offer in terms of viewing?

These innovative TVs use mini-LED backlight technology to control brightness and enhance the contrast between different areas of the screens. Using huge numbers of minuscule LED, LG have developed a screen capable of limited ‘blooming’ (caused when backlight is uneven) and pinpointing light to exactly where it’s needed on your screen. 

In addition to this, a QNED TV also has a quantum dot layer. Made up of tiny particles, this filters through the right colours to guarantee images always look vibrant and colourful.

The result? Exceptional image quality. With improved contrast and dimming control, you can expect crystal clear images, captured in breath-taking detail.
